| 2011 |
One of the most popular screw machine stock alloys available. Tennalum's Microchip II
(T3 temper only) offers excellent machinability
and surface finish. The chips from Tennalum's Microchip II (T3 temper only) are
notoriously known for being small in size. Typically used in connectors and fittings,
brake pistons, computer parts, knobs, and meter shafts. |
| 2014 |
One of the strongest heat treatable alloys for screw machine
applications. Good machinability and high strength. Corrosion
resistance is only fair; however, weldability is good with arc and resistance methods.
In many applications this alloy can be substituted for 2024. |
| 2017 |
Good machinability and good mechanical
properties. Used in rivets, general structural applications, and transportation. |
| 2024 |
Good machinability and good mechanical
properties. Typically used in aircraft structures, rivets, connectors, hydraulic valve
bodies, and miscellaneous structural applications. |
| 2219 |
Good machinability and good mechanical properties. Typically used in high temperature , structural
applications. Also used in high strength weldments. |
| 4026 |
Excellent wear resistance
in both galling (sporadic motion) and wear (frequent sliding friction)
applications. Requires no anodizing for galling/wear resistance
appl
ications and has good machinability as well as high strength. |
| 6033 |
A higher strength version of alloy 6061 with improved machinability.
Good corrosion resistance and anodize response |
| 6061 |
Excellent joining characteristics and good acceptance of coatings (anodize response). Used in applications where
weldability and corrosion resistance are
needed. Typically used in fittings, brake pistons, computer parts, couplings and
valves. |
| 6262 |
Good machinability and corrosion resistance. Good
acceptance of coatings (anodize response).
Typically used in automotive parts, fittings, builders hardware, and valve components. |
| 6040 |
Lead-free alternative to 6262. Offers good machinability and corrosion resistance. Good
acceptance of coatings (anodize response). It
can be used in place of 6262. Physical and mechanical properties are
equivalent to 6262. In most applications this alloy can be
substituted for 6262. |
| 7049 |
Very high mechanical properties (tensile
strength) and good machinability. Offers a high resistance to stress corrosion cracking. Typically used in
aircraft structural parts. |
| 7050 |
Very high mechanical properties (tensile
strength), high fracture toughness, along with a high resistance to exfoliation and
stress corrosion cracking. Typically used in aircraft structural parts. |
| 7075 |
High mechanical properties and in the T73 or
T76 temper, offers
improved stress corrosion cracking resistance. Good machinability and typically used in
aircraft structural parts. |
| 7068 |
Highest mechanical properties (tensile
strength). Intended for aerospace, ordnance and light weight recreational applications
where extremely high strength is required. |
